What we do

From the Weald to the front line, by hand

We collect vehicles, money and supplies in Sussex, drive them to Ukraine and deliver them in person to the people who need them.

What we do

  • Find, test and buy the right vehicles. We search Facebook Marketplace, our trade connections and anywhere else a suitable vehicle turns up, and test each one before we buy it.
  • Prepare them for the journey and the work. Every vehicle gets the work it needs for the climate and the terrain, and is kitted out inside for what it will do: evacuations, rescues and carrying medical supplies.
  • Drive vehicles to Ukraine. Bought and donated 4x4s, estates and vans become ambulances and supply runners for front-line medics.
  • Deliver humanitarian aid. Clothes, coats, tools and supplies, packed into every vehicle that goes out.
  • Support an orphanage. Children's clothes, winter coats and art supplies for the children and their carers.
  • Help animal rescues. Supplies for shelters looking after animals caught up in the war.
  • Fundraise locally. Events and collections around Forest Row and Horsted Keynes to pay for fuel, crossings and repairs.

Why we do it

Every vehicle we take is one more way for medics to reach the wounded. Every coat is one less cold child or orphanage carer. We have seen the difference first hand, and we come home from every trip with a list of what is needed next.

We deliver point to point because it means we can promise you exactly where your donation goes. We know the people we hand it to, and they know us.

How a trip works

From appeal to handover

Ask

The people we support tell us what they need. We share the list here and on Instagram, and open an appeal.

Find and prepare

We find, test and buy the right vehicles, then prepare and kit them out for the terrain and the work ahead.

Collect and pack

Donations come in at our Horsted Keynes and Forest Row drop-off points, are sorted daily and packed into the vehicles.

Drive and hand over

We drive the 1,500 miles to Kyiv, hand over the vehicles and everything in them, and report back in the trip log.

Who we help

The people at the other end

A children's orphanage

We bring clothes, coats, art supplies and anything else the carers ask for.

A front-line medical brigade

Volunteer medics working with the Third Army Corps. Our vehicles carry medics forward and bring wounded soldiers back.

Animal rescues

Shelters caring for pets left behind or injured in the war.

Questions

Common questions

Who are Weald Aid for Ukraine?

A volunteer group from Horsted Keynes and Forest Row in the Sussex Weald. We drive donated vehicles and aid to Ukraine ourselves and hand everything over in person.

Where does the aid go?

Directly to the people we support: a children's orphanage, a front-line medical brigade working with the Third Army Corps, and animal rescues. We deliver point to point, so nothing passes through a warehouse or a third party.

How many trips have you made?

Every trip is in our trip log, with what we took and who received it. Our twelfth, in August 2026, delivered two vehicles that are now working on the front line.

What do you need most right now?

The current wishlist is on our donate supplies page. We update it before every trip, from what the people we support tell us they need.

Can you collect donations?

Yes. If you cannot get to Horsted Keynes or Forest Row, get in touch and we will arrange a collection.

What vehicles are useful?

Four-wheel drives, pick-ups, estates and vans are the most useful, because roads near the front are rough. Tell us about any vehicle and we will let you know if we can take it.

Ready to help?

Money, a vehicle or a bag of coats all make the next trip possible.
